I can’t see what happens at www.dflers.org, which possibly makes it appear there is a hidden agenda and therefore further obscures the DFL message. At least that is how it appears to me, and I represent any online surfer who is looking for DFL leadership and doesn’t have a password.
The public wants to know what the DFL thinks about day-to-day issues and currently there isn’t a lot of effort to apprise the voter. The DFL might try sending out simple messages in a “why should I care” fashion, which would allow for an understanding of the issues in a provided context. The goal should be to best use the free adversiting, instead of finding that one or two people you trust and thinking they will get out the message.
The online community at large is waiting for consistent communcation and helpful leadership form the DFL. Daily messages like these could go out to the blog/ twitter/ etc.community (and also be publicly posted on a DFL blog):
“Help us get this message out: Minnesota has good government. Our government is made up by us, and for us. As always, the DFL Party supports finding ways to make our government more efficient as it meets our needs.”
“The Minnesota Leadership Summit is a brain trust of our best and brightest. Past and present Minnesota leaders will soon meet to discuss Minnesota’s economic situation and our well-being. This is a major, historic event.”
“Please help spread word that a public option included in a health care reform bill would be an effort to help the middle class. Those with less money already have programs available to them, and those with more money don’t feel the same pinch as those that watch every dollar. “
Suggested Communications Flowchart:
I suppose this should be a pdf, but here’s a possible communications flowchart. And yes, I’m suggesting the DFL take a more active role in helping the blog community to get along. It’s to everyone’s benefit if we do. A cohesive community is more condusive to us meeting our common goals. As PS, Your time is not worth more than ours. Take us out to coffee and help us find common ground.

DFLers.org is not a public site. Any online surfer who is “looking for DFL leadership and doesn’t have a password.” should check DFL.org the actual DFL website.
That doesn’t clear it up, Cursedthing. The point is we can better use social media to reach the general public. Yes? I’d like to see the DFL setting the frame. Right now I don’t see that over t the DFL website you redirect us to… but I know there are good people working all over the place. I just want us to work harder.
